Recently I compiled a couple of different lists. The first of these was "Steam's Top Ten User Rated RPGs". The Second was "The Top Ten RPGs of Metacritic".
Ok, you can look back at those posts at your leisure.
This post is to point out that in cross-referencing those lists, there was only one game that appeared on both of them: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Could this be the best RPG of all time?
But wait... both lists places a number of titles above it. Coincidentally, it was #7 on both.
That's very interesting… See More
to me and it got me thinking: Why did this particular game resonate with players and critics alike?
Now I want to ask you:
What's the value of synergy? What does this special status mean for the game?
Geralt isn't a Badass. He is a depressed, sexually deprived, and misunderstood fellow. He just happens to be a mercenary for the wrong kind of people who under pays him. Seems like he will never be able to retire like he always dreamed to... like in those fairy tales...

A game is the best around.. untill a better game arrives. And nothing lasts forever.. even the best recording artists can drop down from the 1st place in the charts sooner then you think.
TW3 will never suck... but .. at some point it will be topped, but even then that's a personal opinion when that time is there.

The Witcher series is very awesome and I didn't think The Witcher 2 could be topped when I played it but it was by The Witcher 3..... However for me it is more fair to compare RPGs within their respective sub genres.... I like KOTOR, Witcher 2 and 3, some Final Fantasy games compete in the top, Divinity is good as well as Fallout games and T.E.S games, Star Ocean:2nd Story, Wasteland 2 and Deus Ex games! Wait I am rambling now, obviously I forgot to mention several more. I am currently playing… See More

I've played a lot of great games, but I have yet to play this one.
There is no denying the appeal, considering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's standing with players and critics. But is it really that good?
Luckily, I'll probably have the chance to find out soon!
In the mean time, I have to be conservative and say that, I have a few other games in mind that strike me as contenders (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Divinity: Original Sin I & II stand out in my mind, but I'm sure I could reference others, too, given time)!… See More
