The best way to go right now is to go with one of the many companies that lets you pick all the parts you want and then builds it for you. If you buy a prebuilt from a store, it will usually have the garbage "generic" PSU that can give you all kinds of problems. RAM and GPU prices are just so crazy right now that building you own is actually NOT the way to go. And it's really sad that things have made it to this point. I absolutely can't wait for the mining bubble to burst. The typical gamer is… See More
Never buy a pre-built computer what you spend on it plus this charge that charge oh this charge too and shiping charge you could have paid for better hardware that you can gradually upgrade at your own pace.
Most if not all pre-built computers are limited life and can't be upgraded. Or proprietary hardware designs so you have to go back to dell and other builders to get their parts. Then you really pay the big bucks 2x reg price
You get cheaper products and parts, that spec out the same as a custom rig, priced the same or slightly competitively priced. But it's still the cheapest components available!
Then the ones with something like a gtx 1070 or 1080, or Vega card are going to give it to you Good! Lol
It's like Walmart, you go to Walmart and buy anything, but let's say a jar of pickles, at a normal store, the same product will have bigger premium pickles, while Walmart will have slightly smaller but still grade a… See More
pickles.
Dell, and many others do the same thing Walmart does, they buy bulk to get a lower per part price. Another analogy is McDonald's you will get better product at the counter, than the drive thru, thry are betting on you being up the road before realizing you got product that is almost ready to be qc'ed. cyberpowerpc is the ghetto pos computer company! Those prices look good, but after $100 to mail it back for a blown motherboard, then it dying again 2 months after getting it back! You could have gotten a high end motherboard!!!
The problem with some of the pre built systems like Dell, HP ...etc. The components in the system are manufactured to their specs and are often not as good or feature rich as the components from their original manufacturer. Then there is the warranty, parts from a manufacturer have different time frames ( usually longer ) then what a company like Dell would offer you, unless you BUY their extended warranty. I am not trashing NZXT, I know very little about their products, as far as I… See More
can tell they are a great value and performer ( according to reviews I have read ). IMO, a PC you built yourself or with help will still be better then a boxed one. If you prefer not to be bothered with doing it yourself the NZXT Bld looks great....
Got mine for less than the cost of the parts bought from the cheapest online store prices.... not including micro center in store sales (no micro center in AZ). Reused my gpu but with a sale the pre built was the most economical way. Esp now with gpu prices!
Get a decent specced pre-built and add/replace components asn necessary.

When graphics card and RAM price is too high, but prebuild is cheaper, it is not a bad idea to buy prebuild.

They may look good but parts-wise they are more expensive. If you are hardware savvy, better to assemble & build one yourself.
