I always build because I never replace EVERYthing when I upgrade. For example if I want to upgrade my rig I’ll need to get a new mobo/cpu/ram, no reason to ditch the case I love, or the SSDs/HDs or my 1070. No system seller is going to sell me a discounted bundle of the parts I need, so...
Good info i have been building for maybe 8 years and i will consider this for my next build, also i love NZXT products got a full size i think 960 case from like 4 years ago
The best way to go right now is to go with one of the many companies that lets you pick all the parts you want and then builds it for you. If you buy a prebuilt from a store, it will usually have the garbage "generic" PSU that can give you all kinds of problems. RAM and GPU prices are just so crazy right now that building you own is actually NOT the way to go. And it's really sad that things have made it to this point. I absolutely can't wait for the mining bubble to burst. The typical gamer is… See More
Never buy a pre-built computer what you spend on it plus this charge that charge oh this charge too and shiping charge you could have paid for better hardware that you can gradually upgrade at your own pace.
Most if not all pre-built computers are limited life and can't be upgraded. Or proprietary hardware designs so you have to go back to dell and other builders to get their parts. Then you really pay the big bucks 2x reg price
You get cheaper products and parts, that spec out the same as a custom rig, priced the same or slightly competitively priced. But it's still the cheapest components available!
Then the ones with something like a gtx 1070 or 1080, or Vega card are going to give it to you Good! Lol
It's like Walmart, you go to Walmart and buy anything, but let's say a jar of pickles, at a normal store, the same product will have bigger premium pickles, while Walmart will have slightly smaller but still grade a… See More
pickles.
Dell, and many others do the same thing Walmart does, they buy bulk to get a lower per part price. Another analogy is McDonald's you will get better product at the counter, than the drive thru, thry are betting on you being up the road before realizing you got product that is almost ready to be qc'ed. cyberpowerpc is the ghetto pos computer company! Those prices look good, but after $100 to mail it back for a blown motherboard, then it dying again 2 months after getting it back! You could have gotten a high end motherboard!!!

When graphics card and RAM price is too high, but prebuild is cheaper, it is not a bad idea to buy prebuild.
