Well, That sucks, was just told that the brand new video card that I was advised to buy, as a replacement for my old one is PCI-3, and my MB is PCI-2.
So I have a R9 290, that I cant use till I upgrade my MB

No such thing. All PCIe 3.0 cards are compatible with PCIe 2.0 and backwards. You cna use R9 290 on your mobo. They are compatible.

Sorry to hear that. I had a similar issue with motherboard incompatibility, back when I was building my rig. Even though the one I had bought was supposed to be compatible, turns out it was completely outdated, and probably why it was so cheap. Luckily a friend of mine gave me a much better one, so everything runs well again with my 290x.

No worries, your 290 will work great in a 2.0 slot. Are you having any issues with it?
