My Friends are what motivates me to play a game, most of the time it is a competitive sport that we play, to see who can reach "x" level first or who can do the most in "x" amount of time sort of thing.

Requirements for purchasing a single player game:
~Longevity - 24+hours with first play through
~Great story - its a must for single player games
~Environment - makes me want to spend hours just exploring
~Replay value - still have lots to do after beating main objective
~Combat mechanics - prefer real-time combat
~Innovate and progressive game play - Game play has to be fun. I like it to add something that i haven't seen in other games. And I want the game play to develop as I progress through the game… See More

so it doesn't get boring or feel redundant.

For multiplier games like mortal combat or shooters:
Lots of people have to be playing it. Online Matchmaking has to be quick. Obviously good game play is a must. Story isn't that important to me; I really online buy these types of games for the online play.

And honestly, out of all the games listed I'm only interested in Witcher 3(1st) and Mortal Kombat(2nd).

Certain publishers are a no-brainer for buying a game. Recommendations from friends are also a good place to start, as well as reading reviews from other gamers who have played it.

What make me purchase a game?
If the game makes me a fanatic. If I see the title of the sequel and my heartbeat increases, when I play it, I feel like I'm sitting in front of a monitor for hours for something it's worth it. I don't care about graphics, but the plot. One good story is worth 10 times how the game looks like.

I try to buy games that I think will hold my attention. I have a very hard time staying with games so I look for things I can jump into and play for a little bit and come back to later.

The feeling after you buy a game and it turns out to be awesome is beautiful. I mean having fun while supporting something is spirit lifting.

When I'm looking to buy a new game, it really comes down to the Devs, If they have a history of releasing unfinished games, only to sell $20-50 of day one DLC, I'll pass. On the other hand, if they support games, even after the player-base is almost nonexistent, that's the kind of people I support.
Obviously none of this even applies if a game doesn't catch my attention somehow, which isn't too hard.
