Most of the time, the recommendation of a close friend is one of the primary motivators for purchasing a game. After that, personal experience with the series or the developer is my next deciding factor.

Well even when I had work I didnt really bought games even when I wanted to, Since my brother believes that if it is single player and multiplayer together, you dont need to buy the games. only time I can buy games is when he wants a game. wasted money on CS:GO even though I dont play it. have like 4 games I bought on at the shop and not online is fable, fallen earth (a month before it went FTP) bulletstorm (wish i knew where my case was for my cd key) and then dungeon siege 3. online games i bought… See More
are WoW when it was super cheap. Eve online (super cheap) Square Enix easter suprise. $5 for 8 games (equal to almost $100) so yeah since I dont have work and when I had work its all about the deals on games. But yes if I had my way without having my brother and my mother nagging about a game I'll buy it.

What motivate me to purchase a game is a deal discounts and the game itself. Especially when Summer deal is going, and the deal goes somewhat crazy. Besides, On Steam, if it's a cheap game, Steam Trading Card is a must.

Well.. i was going to say a random thing until i read the serious part, but anyway. I purchase games to experience a new imaginative world. That's not my favorite thing about them though. I love to play games to get away from the reality of this world...

A well-made progression system typically hooks me into buying a game, and if my friends are playing it.
