Replay value is a big factor for me. Knowing that it contains a solid single player campaign with different outcomes or multiple character classes helps as well. It has to have something innovative for sure.

honestly graphics & main story are behind every game purchase. Some big titles got sequels like tomb raider, GTA ... etc so I won't worry about the story, what got me to buy the new chapter is the graphics and gameplay especially if online reviews are great.

Buying a game is being able to experience an exciting , new world, with all the characters in it. When I buy a game, I want to make sure that going to have fun with it and be able to play it time and time again.

A lot of the time it's my expectations based on little more than a hunch.
I'll usually wait a little after release for the right price but I have often decided that I WILL buy a particular game long before release and even before most of the teasers are available.

Games/gaming in general motivate me. It can be a AA game and or and Indie game, if one's heart and soul is put into making a game, that is motivation enough to get it.

If it's a type that I will enjoy playing multiple times. Even after years has passed and you're on a new OS. The captivating content, no DRM, good reasonable price, compatibility updates, and other goodness sure as free ports, etc.
I still seek a PC port of Secret Of Mana or a genre of the like that has an interesting immersive storystory and beautiful artwork
