Microsoft has now rolled Skype into Teams and terminated their international calling subscription option.
This was my one affordable way to stay in contact with my mother in Canada, I'm in The Netherlands.
Now I am on the hunt for a comparably priced option, I need unlimited calling to Canada for under 5 Euro a month, it was 4.95 on skype.
If she has a smartphone with 4g/5g, use one of the many apps that are free.

Interesting, considering Micrrosoft announced Skype will be retired in may 2025.

Yowza. Ok. I didn't realize that was the pricing constraint. I feel like that is difficult and only solution that comes to mind: Whatsapp (and imo a bad solution, but given the constraint, the only solution). Unless you wanna teach her Discord.
