Today we’ve launched the Beacon Release Candidate. Among many improvements, it also includes support for dialing into a Beacon video conference call from a phone. Beacon’s breakthrough implementation radically simplifies phone calls into a live video conference.
Calling into a Beacon video conference does not require PIN codes, different telephone numbers or variable extensions. In the USA, all calls are managed via just one telephone number (762) 232-2669. Support for other countries and corresponding local numbers will be added when Beacon Plus is released.
Participants can dial in up to five minutes before a video call is scheduled, and will be instantly routed to the precise Beacon conference, regardless if the caller has a Beacon account or not.
It’s important to have telephone numbers associated with Beacon contacts. We make this process easy by implementing mobile contacts synchronization with the Beacon app. The original call scheduler must include the telephone number for each contact on a scheduled call, so participants can optionally dial in, otherwise they can only join using the Beacon web link.
Beacon dial-in support is a premium feature that the Beacon team is inviting its free members to test until Beacon X (free version) is officially launched in late January 2021.
The new Release Candidate also supports Beacon Stream. We will release more details in a week or so.
