So i wanted to build a raspberry pi 4 (8gb) stream encoder to take my camera output and encode it to send off to an RTMP server for use in obs studio for IRL streaming it is turning out that i wasted my money (still some optimising opportunities left to salvage the idea).
My other idea was to use a NUC and power it using powerbanks, but this area of small form factor PC's and their sustained power draw for such a task seems to be a topic not covered in any detail, so i thought to turn to the #gtribe… See More
community for #help on this project as my funds are exhausted and the idea of wasting more money on something that wont work doesn't appeal to me
So just for clarity I'm looking at something to run Linux ubuntu and utilise ffmpeg to encode a stream from a camlink 4k (camera source) and off to my RTMP server via a nighthawk m2 mobile modem (preferably RJ45 connected) from my current experiments (I haven't tried optimisation stuff yet) I also need to run a dummy video out ffmpeg loop to transcode the video signal into something v4l2 can then encode for output so essentially there are 2 instances of ffmpeg running continuously when the camera… See More
