Quick question for those living in the U.K.
My father wants to upgrade his wireless router. He currently has the one that came from TalkTalk and all the networking is done through a small phone/broadband cable. I do know how to look for normal wi-fi routers that can be connected through the standard rj-45 cable that we also have in our pcs but I'm not sure what's good to replace the one from TalkTalk and have a phone/broadband jack.
Also in case of an upgrade like this does he need a specific user… See More
It depends on the device he would upgrade to.
Cheaper routers (under 100€ and even some pricier) do not have a modem integrated so one has to use the ISP-s device (router or modem) as a modem.
Pricier routers might include an aDSL or vDSL modem, and with those one can skip the ISP-s device overall. In that case he'd need to know the usernames, passwords, settings etc from the network provider (for the connection). That info can be found in the router he's using.
I'm using my ISP-s router and an Asus… See More
N18U connected to it as my network and wifi device. One day I will bridge them (when I decide on it) so the Asus will do all the work.

He could ask BT if there is a username/password he needs to put on his new router. Other than that, Linksys have some decent routers.
