Greetings GTribers!
I just finished Netflix's take on the hugely popular Death Note franchise. Yes, you can now watch the movie at Netflix. I will not spoil anything but will give my personal thought on this version of Death Note.
The movie simply fails to capture the very heart and essence of what made Death Note great. Through out it all, it feels more like a Final Destination film than Death Note. Although it pales in comparison, Netflix did provide their own take which is not entirely a waste of… See More
time as had been already stated. Regardless of how bad it is, Death Note fans will still watch it. Because it is Death Note after all.
Game on!
I watched it, it has the concept to some degree but otherwise, this was an utter waste of time. The script was really bad and even when they tried to do twists, they were executed so poorly that it made it really cheesy. They turned Light into a punk kid with no idea what he was doing, they made L an irrational psychopath and took out a number of key characters. I was very disappointed but not surprised.

Character development was a big issue, also less screentime for the demon guy played by Willem Dafoe

It was bad. Not Iron Fist bad, but close enough.

It's sad what they did to Light, made a mastermind genius (from the Anime, manga and even the Japanese live action movies) into a troubled teen. And I don't like the alterations they made to the ruleset of the Death Notes.
