First I watch a few mintues of gameplay on twitch to see if it looks interesting. Then I'll check out the steam reviews and see how many hours people are playing it on average. If it's more than 40hrs and the reviews are mostly positive I'll get the game, but only after it goes on sale for under 30 dollars CAD.

I get very little gaming time but still like investing into decent games that tickle my fancy. So I guess my motivation comes from wanting to have an enjoyable, immersive time while gaming.

I usually only buy discounted games, as I sadly don't get much time to play anymore, so I don't really want to spend a lot of money on games. When I see a game I might like at a low price, I usually check out a review or two, and if I see it got acceptable scores, I go for it.
What I usually look for in a game are good gameplay mechanics and a well-designed, immersive storyline. Nice graphics are definitely a bonus, too.

There are quite a few things I consider when buying a game. First of all the company. I basically never buy games from ubisoft anymore as they have dissapointed me quite alot with buggy launches. Second of all reviews. I always wait 1 week after launch before buying a game, just to see all of the reviews, and to see if the game is buggy. A game with bad reviews and a bad meta score is a no go for me. Third of all the trailer. The trailer isnt a very big part of my considering progress, but if a trailer… See More
brings over enough hype I might consider buying it. Fourth of all does the game have a story. This isnt a big factor in multiplayer focussed games, but one of my requirements is a story. Fifth of all multiplayer. If a shooter has no multiplayer/coop whatsoever I wont buy it. Multiplayer isnt a must in an RPG game
As you can see, there are alot of factors that make me buying a game. And there are even more

I search for good new games by listen to friends and reviews in PC magazines
- and its is has to be games that last, not once you buy, play and then put back in its shelf.

I will have to come back to Kinguin next time I have funds to spend on new games. I see some great deals. I love to purchase games that have the employ most of the latest graphics technologies. I love racer games, fighter, and adventure based games. MMO's in those categories are a blast!

The price compared to the perceived amount of enjoyment i will get from the game. The genre, replayability and length of play are all important. Won't lie having the name of a developer that I have had good experiences with is normally enough to swing my decision from maybe to buy.
