I would say the quality of the game, really how compelling the game is how the game makes you feel through action or story is what motivates me to buy into a game or franchise.
That's why I have easily 40+ hours in games like organ trail, faster than light and papers please. while I still have no interest in completing farcry4(aka no important story to be found)
