Is there any benefit of using a threadripper 1900x vs a RYZEN 7 2700X?

Gaming or video encoding?
Gaming = No unless you are running older games that require 1 core per instance (think EQ). If you are running just latest games then Threadripper will provide nothing extra.
Video/Sound encoding - Threadripper is better.
