Busted PS1... Mods removed and traces fixed... returned to working order... then turned into an PS1 emulator...
"Ultimate" should maintaining all functionality, while modernizing and adding functionality. like slapping a PS1 disk in it and gaming away.
I think the physical media part is lost on newer generations. Owning your game used to be the "Ultimate" feeling, not renting, borrowing, pirating, emulating, but owning that disk was Ultimate! RIGHT!?
So at this stage, He did build the Ultimate emulator sleeper. the emulator doesn't need to spoof parts of the PS1 system, the emulator needs to make the system think the ROM's are owned media.
So still a ROM emulator! The5re needs to be media for each ROM used, otherwise it's just pirated. Owning the console doesn't grant full Sony library access.

Even buying a game on GOG, it is still technically only a license.
Has to be for legal reasons I expect.
But the only control and involvement they have there is the initial download, after which they have no part in it.
People don't like to say it, but Steam was a big part of it.
There is a tendency for people to attack Epic a lot, but Steam played, and continues to be a big part of the problem where you buy a potentially limited duration license only, not owning the game.
