What GPU is the BEST for Linux Gaming? | Linus Tech Tips
Hey Ian Bunting this is something I forgot to bring up though from everything going on with Linux. On my 5070 I saw a BIG reduction in performance compared to on Windows... My 3080ti was around 10% max in FPS reduction. For some reason the 50 series is HORRIBLE to around 25% reduction in FPS... Doesn't make much sense of than them being lazy in coding the drivers properly for Linux is all I can think of... Seeing… See More
this video showed it isn't just my own experience... But apparently the Linus team saw this, and so did Jayztwocents he commented on it once. Nice to see the AMD cards neck and neck though, with some pulling ahead on Linux at times.

Basically, it takes time for freeware developers to figure out new GPUs, because companies aren't so quick to hand out information or to make new drivers in the form of source code. Shortcomings of Linux gaming is a product of corporate secrets and greed.

Useful to know thank you.
On Nvidia atm, and not feasible any time soon to change as any decent upgrade would be expensive, and perhaps rather bottlenecked on my current CPU anyway.

Are you getting that performance reduction with native Linux ports or through a compatibility layer?
