Okay, so the OLD color calibration software is still working, so something changed from their 2nd generation of it from an install, and from the play store one that it cannot be used. I am still wondering if it is a Windows thing... I had it working on the Windows store before, also the other one. Either or it doesn't seem to be fully the RGB controller screwing it, because it hosed the one I am using now. But yeah gotta love it... Maybe the old version is clearing, or ignoring something affecting the newer one, something persistent through updates or reinstallations of a newer one.
I suppose you could try something like Revo Uninstaller or similar to do a more thorough cleanup.
But that will be for another time, as it working now is more important than being newer.
