So I got Bazzite installed onto my moms computer. All she does is play Skyrim with a few mods. The most annoying thing was getting Vortex working lmao. BUT because of a tutorial I saw on that I got Mod Organizer working on my system as well installing it through Steam with the Proton Experimental layer!

With Windows 11 becoming the kind of mess that it is and Steam giving us a Linux-based gaming handheld and mini PC, I really hope more modders would start supporting Linux.

If I was on good terms with family, I would have tried to do a basic Linux PC for my parents, who have needs for just basic browsing, office apps and media consumption.
I could certainly see trying for something locked down to minimise support needs.
Possibly an immutable distribution.
But ofc, that isn't how things worked out, so my own needs will be very different, but I certainly see the appeal of such a system.
