I'm not sure if you've ever used ubuntu studio, but you should give er a looksie! I was doing some bug squashing on their jack ubuntu studio controls jack plugin a few years back. Most involved I was ever with linux! Good small team. But they are probably one of the smallest teams out there now. Although they still support it very much so.
