Hey GTribe Community here is a sneak peek into the closed beta for BEAM!
Here are changes that have happened since this was recorded around 5 days ago.
- Auto quality (1080p) max currently up to 12mbps. Any higher resolution is downscaled to 1080p 6mbps
- Viewer count is viewable in the studio now under the video preview
- Grey area when nobody is streaming is now inviting people to stream (or signup if they are not logged in)
- Personal BEAM feed does work… See More
now!
- Game Genre (Catagories) are still being worked on.

"TV-style channels - the idea here is that you can use BEAM as TV-channel (or a YouTube playlist), where you launch a category (or "mix it up" based on your preferences/history) and you have a 24/7 broadcast that ensures you are seeing action at all times. Plus, you get to skip any streams you don't enjoy and we'd learn based on your choices. This is one of the viewer-centered features (rather than streamer-centered), as the engagement between TV-style viewers and the streamers would be minimal. For example, when I used Twitch it was very easy to fall into the trap of "well known streamers" - it is difficult to go out there and seek for other streamers if you always have one or two suggestions in the side bar who are currently live. With TV-style channel viewers get expose to many many more streamers that they normally would and streamers also get a steady inflow of viewers.
For skipping idle streams - there are people with "going live in X minutes" or "brb". We can reasonably read what the video says and we can use that information to take out a channel from auto-suggested rotation until up to a few seconds before the stream is scheduled to resume or begin. Just one of those intelligent features BEAM can integrate."
