They got caught, in what wasn't exactly that opaque to begin with. They knew exactly who they were working with, they simply didn't like the backlash. Really hurts trust now though, so rolling it back doesn't get back what they lost.
I would argue often a company should be judged not on a mistake, but how they responded to it. But then there are some bad decisions which are hard to see as being a mistake to begin with.
My concern now, is what happens the next time. It will be far less obvious. See More
