TL;DR I have a bad 2nd M.2 slot on my mobo, I now know how to set permissions fully manually on TrueNAS & hardware encoding works on Jellyfin now with the Intel Arc A380 card.
So you know, when you FAFO about and you find out you SHOULDN'T of been FAFOing about??? Yeah that was me this morning -_-+
It started out simple enough... Get my Intel Arc A380 into my server and use that for hardware encoding since TrueNAS doesn't support the non-opensource NVIDIA drivers now for my 1070. That is simple… See More
enough...
What i also decided to do was try having a cache NVME again with my 1TB... Yeah 2 things can be true... My other old RAM stick was bad and ALSO the 2nd M.2 slot on my MOBO is a NO GO... Instead of hanging like with the bad older RAM, the system just immediately shut down trying to access the NVME drive. Then on reboot when I wanted to take it OFF as the cache, the system shut down before full access to the NAS... So I removed it, went to load up the NAS the the GRUB boot loader was hosed -_-+
I did what they recommend, reinstall TrueNAS (And load up the config file) which I didn't know you could backup LOL. But yeah...
They SHOW you in tutorials on HOW to set up a general share like with SMB... What they DON'T show you is how to set up permissions, if you are reimporting a NAS pool... SO an hour later I figured that out lmao. At least I KNOW how to do that now, I now know HOW to back up the system config file also, and thankfully Jellyfin just loaded up the general config files and worked immediately out of the gate without having to reset anything, and on top of that the Intel Hardware encoding works on Jellyfin!
