today i want to ask y'all what sources (websites, youtubechannels, subreddits) you rely on to learn about crypto and what exchanges you use.
The sheer quantity of information on everything crypto is daunting, the following are the sources i chose:
Exodus
Coin Bureau
CoinDesk
Krypto Report
See More
Benjamin Cowen
Ivan on Tech
Bankless

.
As for exchanges: i'm looking and comparing to see which one would be most secure and beneficial to set up an account with.
Although there are a lot of non-regulated exchanges on the market, operating within the legal framework and complying with the requirements of the regulators is the first step towards transparency.
The platforms i'm looking at have already obtained european licences and comply with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) standards:
Bitpanda (Austria)
Bitvavo (Netherlands)
Bitbay (Estonia)
Bittrex Global (Liechtenstein)
Bitstamp (Luxembourg)
CEXio (UK)
Coinbase (Ireland)
EXMO (Estonia)
Kraken (UK)

Binance (Cayman Islands)
Binance claims to have a Malta office but according to the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) “Binance isn’t authorized by the MFSA to operate in the cryptocurrency sphere and is therefore not subject to regulatory oversight by the MFSA.”
Binance’s CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) took to Twitter to address concerns and described the announcement as “old news,” adding that Binance “has a number of regulated entities around the world, either operated by our partners or by Binance dot com directly"
I can't find anything on a european licence. Nor what partners CZ is referring to. Not on their website or online.
Regarding exchanges, what i learned so far is that:
- No platform can be completely perfect.
- The no.1 aspect which should be considered is security and legal compliance.
- not to trust your assets with exchanges that do not have a licence and cannot
guarantee transparency.
coinbase or kraken. I had a personal wallet at one time but too much maintenance.
