same sketch as before when intel closed or sold a lot of its old fab plants off becasue retooling them costs more than just building new units, this will have two results, the first is intel has offloaded some junk that more than covers the cost of creating a new build whilst at the same time allowing it to ditch "old" tech and move to "better" faster options, never mind that they will probably just go to the same route they did before with a contract operation rather than owning the whole process… See More
much as they have done for various other branches reducing there overheads significantly especially in wake of all its financial tribulations from having poor business practices

Maybe the oversupply issues have something to do with it.
Intel could be dropping that while they can.
Optane, the interesting products remain with Intel.
