I love this program, Desktop Restore, so much that I thought I would pass it's info along.
If you ever get sick of your desktop icons getting trashed to hell every time you change your screen resolution (which happened almost every time I updated my GPU drivers.) Desktop Restore saves your desktop icon settings for you, and allows you to restore them.
It's free. And has saved me countless hours of bitching out AMD every time they updated their drivers.
I use my desktop as a dumping ground, rather than anything organised so my icons are hidden.
I would rather use start menu much of the time, as I don't have to minimise a window to access that, and can do more organisation.
Often quicker to type a few letters to access the rest than search for an icon amongst a larger list.
Would also rather see the desktop picture than a sea of icons.

strange updating my AMD drivers never messes up my resolution or my icons, I do use the recommended resolution though.
It's audio that gives me issues every time, it always switches to my monitors inbuilt speakers even though that part of my audio is always disabled, updating the AMD GPU drivers causes it to get re-enabled and set as default..
