Yesterday my new monitor arrived (LG 27UD58P-B 27" IPS 4K UHD FreeSync Gaming Monitor) I figured I would leave a quick first impression review.
Out of the box everything worked fine, no problems and no dead pixels.
The 5ms refresh rate is good and I noticed no tearing when watching videos. (have not yet tested gaming with freesync)
However, the monitor is not quite as bright as I would like and there is a bit of backlight bleed and the brightness is not uniform across the entire screen. It's not terrible,… See More
but noticeable.
The color reproduction is good, but because it is not a bright as my second monitor, pure white looks a bit more muted than I would like.
I'd also say that 27 inches might be a little too small for 4k. Text and such is pretty small at 100% so I have scaling at 125% I think whenever I decide to upgrade I will go for 30 or 32 inches.
For the $269 price and being a 4k monitor I would say it is well worth it, especially if you are on a budget. But if you can afford something a bit higher end it would be worth it to spend the money and go larger and brighter.
I recommend calibrating the monitors with a DataColor Colormunki (Smile, Display, ...) or X-rite Spyder 5 Express, 5 pro, X pro.
