Wow.... I feel like I just dodged a bullet, so to speak!! I had been using the Steam Link on my TV for a couple months so I had not been on my PC in a bit, so this problem could have been present for quite some time.... I just tried to load a game and it had no audio. Odd...I checked Creative Sound Blaster ZX and it kept saying it could not load audio because "This task requires exclusive use of your audio device." That was very strange to me, I had never saw it before and it made little sense....… See More
I reinstalled the drivers, tried disabled and uninstalling all unnecessary audio such as HDMI audio, monitor speakers etc. etc. still, my main 5.1 audio would not work at all.
So the fix ended up being turning on microphone and allowing apps to access your microphone. I don't know when that changed, it was never an issue before.... perhaps my Windows updated and it changed something who knows but I hope this helps someone because I kinda fixed it by accident... What a strange issue that could have ruined my audio on my PC lol...Everything is back to normal! Have a great night.
I have had something similar where my microphone didn't work in steam so i had to turn it on, i do still have no sound in some games and some speed up aswell when i am using my hifi speakers, haven't tested since latest windows update though

This setting being disabled through Windows basically did not allow Creative audio driver to enable and function I suppose.
