Have you ever written your own D&D campaign that was so heavy, you had problems continuing to write it? I need to watch something cute and campy because my current campaign is taking a very dark turn...
Oh ho ho ho... ya, ok. Lets explain one that was just dark enough that I am unsure how I was only unhappy as I was (instead of expectedly pissed).
In a campaign, we were going on for so long, we decided to semi-power level through because of how long we have been in and to see just how powerful our characters really could go. This was 4e btw.

find the item that was needed to make use of in the present cause this item no longer existed. I know, time shenanigans is about to play a toll here.
The biggest issue that none of us knew at the time was how the DM was struggling to figure out how to justify what needed to be done without revealing who we were or when we were and still linking to the present.
My character (A swordmage and 1 of the few rare ones) made a comment that as far as he knew, when they would be would involve alot of changes that never happened and to avoid the issues, we don't mess with anything except for the objective. The wizard in our group concurred and said that it is impossible to tell what will happen if we did mess with anything outside the most minute of changes (in this case, getting a piece of an item that hasn't been used since the end of a war which is the time we were going for).
So back to the past we go. We come out, start finding our objective. We needed to party split because some of us, it would be impossible to get things done without running into problems. The time period put someone like my race (Genasi) at a huge disadvantage because the war included my race's type. I managed to find my deity in the past and reveal in a way that what I was was truly a follower of him, just not from that time period and told him for reasons involving time, I cannot tell him much, but I needed something and if he could provide it, it would be given back to him when the time comes up and he'll know when that was. Because of items and auras about my character that only he could see, my diplomacy was extremely low requirement. He believed me and gave it to me. So I dawned my cloak and left at the path he suggested to avoid getting caught and didn't have to deal with stealth issues.
Meanwhile, one of the players who had been playing a shadow assassin found the god that hasn't become yet what she would be in the present. After some talks, this player was intrigued. Suddenly, there was a pause. After a bit (15 Minutes), it continued. This was about expected because this player loved stories, stealth, and intrigue. Anyways, her character said a few last things (that we could visibly see, but we weren't with her) and left it at that.
So its time for us to leave because it is not known if we could return if we aren't returning by the sunset of the same day's arrival if it was missed. Here comes her character and her character was acting somewhat strange. We couldn't figure it out, but we were also in semi-panic mode cause of the limited time. Then she said something and I'm like "What?" because what she said made no sense as it seemed a little abnormal for her character.
Return to the present and..... JUST HAPPENED!? We left, it was bad, but not that bad. We come back and it was pure chaos. Also, all of us arcane users felt off. We begin to return to the deities when the character says another strangeness of how she could let this happen and how she should have just kept on her path. That is when we looked at her asking "What are you talking about?" This player pulled a switcheroo. (To be continued)

I have done 2 campaigns a lot of years ago.. 2 very short ones. 1 was only an 18 hour campaign other was a shorty of about 4 hours to introduce some new players to the mechanics (based on 2nd editition).
I have spent weeks tweaking and finetuning that first campaign... I had to pull some DM tricks out of my sleeve because instead of getting lost.. they went the right way through the beginning so I had to quickly adapt to lengthen it lol. It was like they read my mind.
