For the past few days, I felt like my fans were working extra hard, so I opened up HWMonitor and was shocked to find that my CPU cores were hot as hell (100 C°) while idle! I thought the program was acting up since I wasn't doing anything. I checked with Core Temp and I got the same reading. I opened up the case and I found the fan of my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO not spinning. I shut it down and took the fan out and lubed it until it spun properly again. I think I ought to replace it since this… See More
is the 2nd time it got stuck. There's probably a lot of gunk in there I shudder when I think how hot the CPU got while I played Yakuza Kiwami 2 (a demanding game).
From now on, I'll have TThrottle running at all times to warn me of crap like this since GIGABYTE's App Center didn't warn me of the temp or the fan stopping. I got a Devil's Canyon in my system and I can't stand the idea of it frying.
I would run some tests on it to make sure it wasn't damaged whilst the fan was off...
