I'm in need of some professional advice type #help. On any given day my company will wast anywhere from 100- 3000 pieces of paper printing work tickets and timesheets. I am trying to bring them up to speed in going digital instead of using so much paper.
As it stands right now want to get a descent tablet or small laptop that will run Excel, so that we as supervisors can edit and update all our "paper"work. The company has security concerns which I fully understand, but I think I may have a security… See More
work around.
Each day we come in and instead of picking up a pile of papers, we pick up a thumb drive with our timesheets and work tickets already loaded by the job coordinator. We simply plug them in do our work and update the documents accordingly to the thumb drive and turn them in at the end of shift for the coordinator to update into the system.
Does this sound like a sound plan or am I just day dreaming?

I would recommend looking into a system that helps automate tickets. We use Web Help Desk from SolarWinds and it can auto-create tasks that are needed to be done. You can set them on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. You can setup an email that you/others send emails to, to create tickets for work tickets. Our Human Resources and Accounting team uses the system as well. Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
