My 93 yr old grandmother was forced to move from analogue TV to digital, something 99,9% of us get used to in a heartbeat, but for a non technical 93 year old lady that's a big change.
So this morning was supposed to be a really easy and mellow morning after a hectic close to 2 weeks straight, but my granny needed me so I'm there!
Hooked up the digital TV box, oddly enough the provider took a weird turn there and provided a digital TV box that needs to be hooked up on the old analogue wall outlet… See More
to have a digital signal... yea.. weird lol.
So I hooked it up, simple.. easy. Hardest thing would be to explain why the channels were not on the same numbers as before. after a minute the signal started to get distorted, image flickering and about half a minute later it just lost all signal to the TV.
After calling the helpdesk which was rubbish I talked to an backoffice expert, explained what I have done already to test out a possible solution.
In the end it appeared the TV box worked fine, but it updated itself after first install and after that ... the HDMI 1.0 port on my granny's TV was not able to support it anymore.
Had to hook up a scart to s-video cable with 1080p upscaling to have a somewhat clear image.
Now my grandmother has to get used to having a lot of TV channels she'll never watch and those 4 channels she watches almost every time she turns on the TV... are on different channel numbers as before.
Disable auto tuning and do Manual - you can set the channel number to her preferences - had to do it with my Wifes.
