Greetings GTribers!
I have a noob question here that needs #help answering.
What happens to a PC hardware or PC part when its LED dies? Does it also affect the hardware or part? I am referring to some motherboard, RAM, GPU, fans and the pump itself for AIO coolers that uses LEDs (RGBs or non-RGBs).
Game on!
LEDs are usually status indicators and usually set to function independently.
To relay on the function of an LED is very poor fundamental electronic practices.
Some circuits could use an LED for a particular scenario, but usually it's only temporary until they replace it with a component designed for that particular task.
Because your hardware aren't makeshift prototypes, a dead LED won't affect the function of your hardware.

Nothing happens. The LEDs are a different circuit than the "useful" parts. You could have it the other way too, for example memory not working and leds lighting up...

It seems that it does not affect the rest of the hardware. I 've seen an Asus crosshair vi working just fine having the aura lighting dead.

Nothing happens, my H100i only lights up in red now since the green and blue LED's stopped working.

I don't think anything happens to the component itself. It's just that the LED light died.

If it's only the led that died nothing happens with the equipment itself. In AIO you'd be facing difficulties in knowing if it's working or not without the led but otherwise no, nothing happens to the equipment.
