Since I have not posted for a while, I wanted to leave a quick update on what I have been playing.
Astroneer is a third person space survival, crafting and resource collecting game made by System Era Softworks and uses the Unreal 4 Engine. The game is still in its pre-alpha phase but can be purchased on Steam.
Some of the early gameplay challenges revolve around managing your limited oxygen supply levels while exploring and mining your immediate surroundings. This starts to be alleviated once you… See More
find Compound so you can create Tethers. These can be strung together to maintain an oxygen connection to your base so you can expand the territory you can work in.
As you continue to explore and mine resources you will be able to expand your base and create things like energy producing items (solar panels, generators), vehicles (rovers, trucks) and spacecraft (lander, spaceship). With these items, you can continue expand your travels to many of the caves across the surface or even to other planets and moons.
The two main pieces of equipment your Astroneer utilizes are your backpack that contains your oxygen, energy storage, and a “small item” manufacturing plant. It can also hold several mined resources and modules including oxygen tanks, power cells, solar panels, etc. The other item is your Deformation Tool that allows you to collect resources and alter the landscape by digging, filling and smoothing the ground.
So far I’m enjoying the game and I can see many additional features they can expand to after they get the base systems working correctly. Feel free to visit their website at http://astroneer.space/
