The last couple of days I have been playing #Arma3 - Escape from Tenoa in multiplayer. Tenoa is a new jungle island map that came out with the Apex expansion.
This is a S.E.R.E., "Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape" scenario where you are captured and locked in a makeshift jail while doing reconnaissance on the island. Luckily a rebel faction has left you a backpack with a gun in it that you can use to kill your guards and escape (and take their gear). From there you assault locations for… See More
better gear and transportation, hack a communications terminal to call in an evac and race to the LZ for pickup.
Two things you have to find: (1) Map - to find players and locations. (2) Smoke grenade - found out the hard way while soloing that the rescue copters will not show up unless you drop one of these at the evac LZ.
So far this has been a lot of fun no matter if there are two or ten players trying to escape at the same time - even though the more players there are, the more it feels like herding cats. You either get bogged down waiting for someone taking forever to loot, someone loses the group and doesn't have a map, or the group has to look for an incapacitated body because everyone has to make it to the choppers to complete the scenario. Strong leadership is a must.
For me the worst negative thing about this game is the rubber-banding when you are a passenger in vehicles. Makes it almost impossible to use mounted weapons and you get the occasional de-sync that throws you out onto the road, killing you.
Fun times!
