I was reading through the posts in my feed and iPixelDot & Friends ask a great question, “What are the top 3 things about NemesisGG | Esports & Entertainment that you fully enjoy.” The replies were excellent and aligned in many ways with what I feel about this website.
One thing on peoples lists that repeated (in one form or another) was that they enjoyed getting to know about other members lives through their posts. For me that is difficult because I am never very good about talking about myself and when I do I’m… See More
very self-conscious about it. You'll probably notice that when I do post it is usually with humorous remark that I use as a coping mechanism.
So today I’m going to go against my natural inclinations and share some things that are important in my life. They are also kind of cool. Here goes.
For the last 10+ years I have been doing volunteer work in community disaster preparedness (CERT), communications through professional/amateur radio and County Search & Rescue. I have been involved in many happy and sad resolutions in SAR including rescue work the 2014 Oso mudslide. I have also been involved in working as helicopter ground support involving several different governmental groups including local county sheriff offices, military (Army and Coast Guard) and even US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).
In the picture above I got to spend the day marshaling (aka waving my arms at) the CBP Black Hawk. This was during a training mission where regional SWAT teams were practicing boarding a fast passenger ferry from boats, and fast roping from two helicopters including a Huey. What a long but exciting day that was.
Thank you for taking time reading this. I’m now gonna turn off the computer and go have a drink.
Cheers!
Awesome job man
