My son wants to make youtube videos like stampy does for Minecraft and other games or like he's seen some of y'all do where we can still see you and the gameplay at the same time. He has a birthday coming up and I would like to get him the equipment to get started but I don't have a clue. He has an HP laptop w/ intel i5, ps3, and xbox 360.
Any product suggestions? Advice?
Nichole Smith, just create a new status, click on add image and find the speccy screenshot to upload it. In the posting box, just put in something like "Erwin Klein Haneveld, here's that speccy screenshot!" and click post.

Wow, Erwin Klein Haneveld that's a very kind offer. He's only 10 & he's not on GTribe. I took a screen shot of the speccy results but i'm not sure how to insert it here.

how old is your son? is he on GTribe with your consent ? or is he not? if he is, have him send me a friends request and send me a message .. I will look in to maybe upgrading the laptop if possible by adding more ram to it? greetings #TASO aka #TheAwesomeOne

Thank you everyone for all the great tips. Erwin Klein Haneveld I used speccy and I guess the first step will be to graduate him to a better computer which may not be within the birthday budget. Dot Flanagan I think the xbox1 w/ kinect and a nice gaming headset is a great place to start. David Moore I didn't realize how much actually went into making those videos. Thanks for the heads up. And mad props to the awesome youtubers that take the time to create great videos for our entertainment.

On the 360, I would get an Elegato external recorder (can be about $125 to $175). But to be honest, for a young starter like him I would just look into buying him the xbox one with kinect and a decent headset as he could do all of that without the laptop really. It may be a little slow but uts a good starting point for a young, new youtuber. Later on if he wants to continue recording and editing videos, all you would have to do is invest into a video editor for the laptop (assuming it can handle… See More
it) and possibly a microphone, webcam, and a capture card (which can easily be about $400+)

What kind of configuration does the laptop have because cpu alone does not give a right indication if it can do it, look for a tool called speccy run it on the laptop and share te screenshot with us using a tool like light shot for Windows and tag me or dDDot Flanaganin a reply
