So apparently if you even change your RAM with Windows 10 Home you will have to re-activate it!? Not sure why it happened this time when I just upgraded my RAM amount but not the last time I completely switched to new sticks. But for whatever reason by me adding the 2 new sticks today it made my copy of Win 10 think it was on a different PC. I had to call MS support & have it re-activated just like when I switched mobos.
I guess it's not that big of a deal but it was for sure the last thing… See More
I wanted to do on a Sat. I have off! I thought only changing your mobo caused this with Win licenses? The only thing I can think is that I changed the slots my original RAM was in when I installed the new RAM today & that is why Win 10 deactivated on me?Anyways. just a heads up to anybody else with Win 10, changing RAM could possibly make you have to re-activate your Win 10 license.
Well, when I build my new rig, I will be changing mobos, since I have to go AM3+ as opposed to the FM2+ I am currently using. New CPU is FX-6300 Black Edition. Plus, I'll be adding a 2nd 250 GB SSD, and replacing my WD Green 1 TB with an HGST 2 TB Enterprise HDD (7200 rpm vs the old 5400). So, yeah...I can understand the mess. Oh...also replacing 16 GB 1600 RAM with 16 GB 1866 RAM.

I'm not running windows 10, but I just changed my RAM which came with my OEM system a few days ago and I have not encountered any problems at all. I'm still running windows 7 though, I'll be upgrading to windows 10 next month as I'm changing mobo and CPU. As far as I knew, OEM windows is only tied to the mobo and CPU. I find it weird to change that.

Microsoft are becoming increasingly control-intensive. It's not a nice feeling and it would be great if another operating system came along that was as easy to use and compatible with everything we use so that we could have a choice.
Nothing else out there is like that for the average user.
I know many people on here can and do use other OS's but most wouldn't know how to set them up even if they were compatible with all games.
